Troubleshooting: WiFi Issues
Small changes at home can make a big difference in how well your student's device connects. Try these steps in order.
Quick tips to improve your WiFi
- Place the router up high — on a desk or shelf, not on the floor or inside a cabinet.
- Keep the router away from other electronics like televisions and appliances.
- Don't set objects (especially metal ones) on top of or right next to the router.
- Put the router in a central spot in the home, or have your student sit closer to it.
- Keep phones and handheld game devices at least 3 feet from the Chromebook or tablet.
- Find a spot in your home with strong signal and keep the device stationary there.
- Restart your router: unplug the power for 30 seconds, then plug it back in.
